The room is more than adequate with a very large bath. Large walk in shower plus large tub and plenty of space for your bath products. We had a king bed and it was very comfortable. There is a rooftop pool on the third floor with a bar area that was not open during our stay. The pool was a regular afternoon spot for us after touring in the steamy weather. Everyone on staff throughout the hotel was very nice. If I had to guess, this hotel was likely in its day a grand place to stay. It is still lovely, well kept and clean. But step outside into the craziness of the city and you are surrounded by tall glass skyscrapers and cranes building more of the same. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again based on service and accommodation but I’m not sure about walkable areas or convenience of that sort. We took cabs everywhere. Traffic is insane and walking is likely sometimes faster but the weather is unbearable and the rides are cheap.

An opulent hotel in the heart of Bangkok

We had a 5 night stay here in a superior suite and were very impressed by the size and elegance of the room & property. The room had all the facilities you could want (see hotel web site for details). It was large clean, comfortable and had good views over the adjacent city. However, being a large hotel breakfast can be somewhat hectic and the staff do not always understand what is required. It was difficult to get them to understand what an egg cup is. At breakfast there is a large variety of hot and cold food although, as usual, the coffee area can get very busy. One day we wanted to set off early and by request we were given a wonderful packed breakfast to take with us. The hotel is located not too far (walking distance) from BTS (skytrain) and MRT (underground) stations. Indeed we were able to access the airport by walking to Chong Nonsi BTS to connect with the Airport Express at Phaya Thai (via Siam) without negotiating any steps at all. There are some restaurants close by but not what I would call typical Thai restaurants.... but do try 'Hungry' adjacent to Chong Nonsi station. We enjoyed the live music by the musician at both the downstairs bar and the 'Wing' bar by the pool.

Spent just one night here and found it to be an excellent hotel. The room was clean and tidy. The breakfast was very good with enough choice. Very friendly staff. Elegant looking lobby. The happy hour was outside in a pleasant area with a guitarist/singer. A really pleasant atmosphere.

As a solo lady traveller the Concierge were 100% top class ! Last night I decided to visit Patpong Night Market despite pouring rain and thunder restricting walking. Not a taxi anywhere. The Concierge chap on the door firstly used a taxi App and told me no, too expensive. I said can I get a Tuk Tuk ? He said no, too expensive and wet. In his very smart suit he then took an umbrella and dashed out to the busy main road where he stood in the pouring rain and thunder, waving to get me a metre taxi. An excellent service for a crazy lady going market shopping in the rain ! And the taxi was only 40 Baht. If you like Orient-Express style decor and real charm, this hotel is great value and excellent service. Recommended.
